Dr Deepa’s Diary March 2014

As we see the first signs of Spring approaching just around the corner, March has added some spring into my step too. I would sincerely like to thank everyone who voted for me at the APCTC Awards 2014. Without your votes and support this would not have been possible. I feel absolutely delighted and thrilled to have received the APCTC Outstanding Achievements Award. APCTC Awards

Ayurveda’s Oil Pulling Therapy:
Lately I have had several journalists contacting me inquiring about the “oil pulling” therapy. It looks like its the latest trend in the health field at the moment. Just a few pointers about this wonderful therapy. It originates from Ayurveda and the terms given to this in Ayurveda are either Gandusha or Kavalagraha.

Sesame seed oilThe best oil to use is warm Sesame Seed Oil and the best time to do this first thing every morning. Simply fill your mouth with warm sesame seed oil and move it around as though you were doing a mouth wash for approximately one minute. Then spit it out and wash your mouth thoroughly. when done regularly this one simple routine helps towards sharpened sensory functions especially the vision, smell, taste and hearing. it is great to help get rid of dark circles around the eyes and reduces the onset of fine lines and wrinkles. Of course there are many more benefits than mentioned here. But this is just a start!
