Dr Deepa’s Diary – December 2012

I returned from Canada in November, just in time to celebrate Diwali – the Festival of Lights – with my family…

The festival is celebrated at just the right time, when the weather is getting colder and days are getting darker. For this reason it is well named ‘The Festival of Lights’, as it also helps to warm up our lives, diets, and health! :) Diwali_DiyaOf course there are these mouth watering Indian savouries and sweets that one can’t get enough of…risky for those who want to stay trim for the festive season in the UK! And to make it even better, a group of friends organized a Diwali Ball, which was a great success.

As the enthusiasm of Diwali was dying down, it was time to get ready for Christmas and New Year. It’s that time of the year when all of us are busy with the parties and celebration – and of course partying always includes lots of food and alcohol!

When my clients enquire about the best remedy to help with the excess partying, all I talk about are the 3 classical Ayurvedic Herbs: TriphalaTurmeric and Neem.

It’s about taking them regularly over the partying season and you will be amazed with the results. All these herbs are very good at metabolising the alcohol faster and they are known for their liver cleansing qualities! And if you want to avoid a hangover next day, just take two capsules of each of these on the night before you go out to paint the town red… Many of my clients can’t do without them!

xmas 2012So when we at
Ayurveda Pura had our
Xmas Party on 15th December, everyone was sure to
take the magic herbs!

2013 is a busy year on my side with lots of teaching and training on the calendar including a few new courses. Look out for the next newsletter – especially for one very exciting new course taught by a very special person who I have known for almost 4 years!

The New Year will also bring in a few new additions to our already new and exciting newsletter, whereby you our lovely readers will have a chance to ask me about health ailments, and the answers will be published in the following newsletter. We will have a community based resource for Ayurvedic wellness tips!

So here is wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! And I look forward to hearing from you in 2013!
